Inspection Resumption: Routine inspection will now resume from Easter 2021
We have heard today that some routine inspections will resume from the beginning of the summer term 2021, with the intention that a full programme of routine inspections will commence in September 2021.
In the meantime we will continue to carry out Additional Inspections, Progress Monitoring and Material Change Visits, at the behest of the DfE. These will continue to consist of either onsite inspections or Remote Reviews, depending on the outcome of a risk assessment process.
With the learning from both our COVID-safe onsite inspections and our Remote Reviews, we have begun working this term on what our inspections will look like when we do return. Any changes to inspection practice will be clearly communicated in good time and we are preparing a ‘step-by-step’ return to inspection to be sent to all our schools in spring 2021. Above all, we recognise that schools will continue to face challenges and that we need to understand and reflect upon the Covid-19 context as an inspectorate. This will inform our inspector training, which will continue remotely and will include a section on the challenges faced by schools during this period and subsequent changes in school life.
We are very pleased to be able to start planning for 2021. If you have any questions please get in touch on info@isi.net.
