Deferral of all ISI scheduled inspections

Following the Prime Minister’s briefing of Monday afternoon and with the agreement of the DfE, ISI has deferred all of its scheduled inspections.  We recognise the unprecedented nature of the challenges faced by our schools as they continue to support and educate their pupils whilst also managing the concerns of their parents and staff and planning for an uncertain future.  We believe that the decision to defer inspections is the right one, enabling schools to focus on what they need to do to ensure the health and well-being of their communities.   Where significant safeguarding concerns have been identified, any decision to inspect will be risk assessed on a case by case basis with the DfE.  We are continuing to work with the DfE to look at the implications over the longer term and will provide further updates as soon as we have clarity.
