Q How many inspectors are involved in a routine inspection?
A

The size of the inspection team is determined by the size of the school (the number of pupils on roll) and the context of the school.

The inspection is led by a reporting inspector and in most cases, a minimum of two team inspectors.

All members of the inspection team will usually attend for the duration of the inspection.

ISI is formally approved by the Secretary of State for Education to inspect association independent schools in England. This approval is outlined in section 87A of the Children Act 1989 and section 106 of the Education and Skills Act 2008.
